Our story

Since always the right bank of the river Douro in the region of Upper Corgo yields wines of excellence. Historical records dating back to 1256 refer to the production of wines at the confluence of river Ceira, Gouvinhas, Sabrosa. It is in this environment of outstanding natural beauty classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, that both Quinta FozCeira and Quinta da Costa de Baixo, produce wines, combining quality and heritage, which includes Pombaline landmarks from the oldest demarcated region in the world (1756 – Douro Demarcated Region).

The edaphoclimatic conditions of the place ensures the highest ranking quality potential of the region (class A). In fact year after year, the old vines, consisting of a wide variety of grapes indigenous to the region, together with the most recently planted vines, including varieties such as Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, grow grapes of the highest standard allowing the production of complex and concentrated wines of the finest quality. The vineyards are treated on site in order to maintain the balance and resilience of plants in harmony with the surrounding environment, ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations.

The production of wine is made in small batches, seeking to capture the specificities of the different vineyards and varieties, using traditional techniques combined with the latest technological knowledge and innovations, in order to guarantee a continuous increase in quality and to future sustainability. By producing wines of exceptional quality, which capture the essence of the Douro in a sustainable way, the Bulas family keeps the tradition and preserves the culture and heritage of this extraordinary and unique wine region.
